ACC Limited has launched a new cement blending unit at Padubidri village in Udupi district of Karnataka.
Formally inaugurating the unit, P.N. Iyer, Chief Executive, South, ACC Limited said “With the completion of this unit, we have moved much closer to providing excellent service to our customers located in the coastal belts of Karnataka.”
The new unit is capable of blending 30,000 tons per month of Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC). The plant utilizes fly ash in an environment-friendly way and helps in reducing emission of harmful greenhouse gases.
Udupi is located in coastal Karnataka allowing easy access by road to all important coastal markets of Karnataka and North Kerala.
Karnataka is one of the most important markets for ACC with more than 90 per cent of its cement capacity located in the state. ACC’s Wadi plant in Karnataka’s Gulbarga district boasts of the world’s largest kiln. Clinker produced at this world-class plant is manufactured according to the most stringent internal quality norms. The company also has two modern satellite cement grinding units located at Thondebhavi near Bengaluru and Kudithini near Bellary which utilize clinker from the Wadi plant.
This same best-in-class clinker from ACC Wadi would also be used for cement production at the new Udupi blending unit. Equipped with sophisticated quality monitoring systems, the plant will maintain high standards. With the opening of this plant, ACC assures its customers enhanced levels of service.
