Big 5 Dubai is the biggest event in Asia related to building and construction. It’s a global platform for presentation of innovative building and construction equipment. A platform for innovative designs and world-class products, this event is one not be missed. This year Big 5 Dubai had 2000 exhibitors from more than 150 countries and more than 90,000 visitors across globe. Project Vendor spoke at length with Samir Gandhi, Director, Gandhi Automations Pvt Ltd, and discussed his experience at Big 5 Dubai and future plans of the company.
How was your experience at Big 5 Dubai?
We have been participating in Big 5 for last 3 years now. Big 5 Dubai is the biggest event in Asia building and construction, and participation in such event are very important for growth of the company. The kind of product range and innovation you see at this event is awesome. This is a great platform for us to showcase our products on global platform.
What have you learnt from Big 5 Dubai?
Technology keeps on evolving, and every time I visit Big 5, I get to see lot of innovative products at exhibitors stall. This also encourages us to innovate products. This place reminds us how important it is to keep on ameliorating on your products. This place reminds me how important it is to keep investing on research and development and always be on toes.
Elaborate about your presence at Big 5 this year? Any products displayed? How was overall response from Big 5 Dubai?
We have increased our stall size from 18 sq.m in 2013 to 80 sq.m 2015, and mind you this time we had booked prime location. This year we had displayed products like high-speed door, dock leveler, dock shelter, sectional overhead door, isotherm rolling shutter and motorized gate. We are very aggressive on international market. We have set target of 50 per cent revenue from international market by 2018. We participate in 24 domestic exhibitions, and we already have 70 per cent market share in India.
How is Gandhi Automations different from international counterparts?
We manufacture high-speed doors, rolling shutters, dock levelers and dock shelter, and our quality is as per international standards. The biggest advantage we have over international competitors is cost. We are very good in quality and at the same time low in cost.
What are strategies adopted to achieve export target?
We are looking for distributors outside India. Many have seen our products live and shown interest in partnering with us via joint venture and distributor in the region. We will meet them and take decision case basis. Our marketing team had started international promotions 6 months before through online promotions, international B2B portals and few international magazines. We are being region specific while promoting in international magazines. We are also planning participation in events and exhibitions in Kenya, Nairobi, Southeast Asia, Australia Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka etc.
You said you want to achieve 50 per cent revenue from international market in next 3 year? Have you made any changes in the organizational structure?
We are very confident about quality of products we are offering in international market. In terms of human resource, we have employed skilled, experienced sales team for export. Our experienced export team is working on adding new international clients.
In a span of 20 years you have reached international level. To whom will you credit this achievement?
The synergy between the different processes allows us to offer high-quality products to our customers. All thanks to our highly trained and experienced engineers and technicians and the use of special materials, we are able to satisfy customers’ requirement.
