The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan today inaugurated and presented the elegant and scenic Sahar Elevated Road. This signal – free 2.20km long and 27.6m wide elevated road was implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
The elevated road provides three lanes each for up and down traffic from Western Express Highway to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).
On the occasion, Prithviraj Chavan asserted that, “Projects such as this will position Mumbai as the truly international metropolitan city. The city will soon be identified by the world for projects like Monorail, Eastern Freeway and this elevated road”.
UPS Madan, the Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said, “the Authority will continue to undertake projects which will regain Mumbai’s numero uno status and turn it into a growth engine of the country once again”. He further added that “The MMRDA, while implementing the Sahar Elevated Road project, resettled and rehabilitated more than 750 families, including a few religious structures, affected by the elevated road project”.
