To fast-track the development of infrastructure and skilled workforce in Tamil Nadu, KEF Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chief Minister Dr Jayalalithaa Jayaram towards setting up the world’s largest integrated facility for offsite construction.
Under the agreement, KEF Holdings, a Singapore-based multinational holding company specializing in innovative offsite construction technology, will invest Rs.650 crore in two phases in the state and provide employment opportunities to over 1,000 people.
Phase 1 will be rolled out with immediate effect. KEF Holdings will invest Rs.390 crore and offer employment to more than 500 people. This will be followed by the second phase in January 2016 with a further investment of Rs.260 crore and employment to an additional number of 500 individuals.
The MoU was signed during the valedictory session of the Global Investors Meet (GIM) held in Chennai from September 9 – 10, 2015. Delivering the keynote address at the forum on “Tamil Nadu’s New Paradigm in Industrial Infrastructure: Industrial Corridors, Parks and Investment Regions”, Faizal E. Kottikollon, Founder and Chairman of KEF Holdings, shared insights on the manufacturing technology that KEF would be bringing to Tamil Nadu to help position it at the forefront of infrastructure and nation building.
Commenting on this partnership at the GIM, Kottikollon said, “Much like the Indian government’s vision of ‘Make in India’, KEF is committed to transforming the country’s infrastructure with its cutting-edge pre-engineering, manufacturing and design-and-build approach at KEF Industrial Park in Krishnagiri. By locally manufacturing building materials through leveraging state-of-the-art technology while boosting the nation’s workforce, these innovations provide solutions to pressing social and environmental issues.
“Over a period of time, the move will drive improvements in educational, healthcare and public infrastructure facilities in India. We are honoured to partner with the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and count on her support to make our dream of maximizing and scaling up affordable housing, healthcare, education and public infrastructure amenities a deep-rooted reality.”
The Tamil Nadu Global Investor Meet is a focused endeavour to realize Tamil Nadu’s vision of inclusive growth through investment inflows, growth in employment, balanced regional growth and environmentally sustainable long-term development.
KEF Holdings applies the principles of industrial manufacturing to construction, incorporating robotic systems and CAD and Computer Aided Manufacturing. These innovations, which reduce costs and time of construction by 50 per cent, are manufactured at the KEF Industrial Park in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The quality produced in offsite construction is much higher than traditional in-situ construction. The company is successfully implementing this innovation to build affordable housing, schools and smarter healthcare facilities across India and the Middle East.
